Physician Assistant familiarity and skill with the recovery position: A pilot study

Abstract Introduction Prior to matriculation, physician assistant students often need be certified in Basic Life Support. However, it is unknown whether they are aware of and can place a victim one specific life-saving method, the recovery position. This study evaluated students’ ability human Methods Students enrolled program (MSBS-PA) at midwestern university, entered simulated, multi-victim scene where encountered live with head wound difficulty breathing, laying supine on ground, had provide care felt necessary save their life. The were randomly selected from university program. Results Just 38.4% (10/26) successfully placed recovery. While some stated awareness position, majority that never received training nor demonstrate competency. Conclusion findings support position so may better respond incident.
